Sandeep Patil was born on August 18th, 1956, in Mumbai, India. He began his cricketing journey at a very young age under the guidance of his father, Madhusudan Patil, who was also an esteemed first-class cricketer. - International Debut: Sandeep made his international debut for the Indian team in January 1980 playing against Australia. Over the next seven years, he represented India in 29 Test matches and 45 One Day Internationals (ODIs).
- Batting Achievements: He is best remembered for his breathtaking innings of 174 runs scored off just 165 balls against Australia in Adelaide during the 1981 series. This landmark score remains etched as one of the greatest contributions to Indian Test Cricket history.

Sandeep Patil served as the coach of Kenya and Oman national cricket teams, also taking Kenyan team to World Cup semi-finals in 2003 which is a huge achievement. Later, he was appointed as Director of The National Cricket Academy located in Bangalore, India.
Besides coaching, Patil has been involved in other aspects of sports management too. He acted as a selector for the Indian cricket team and chaired the selection committee during 2012-2016 period. His tenure was marked by sound decisions that have reaped great benefits for Indian cricket.
